Hooked rug: design
Landscape—the inland women produced pictures dear and familiar to them—hills and trees, little white houses and farmyard scenes.
Historical— great moments of history were sometimes recorded in rugs—and historical and patriotic emblems, such as the American eagle.
Animal—the household dog and cat had his portrait hooked often. All the barnyard animals, too—cows, horses, chickens, ducks and lambs. (I never saw a pig.)
